Practical checklist

File upload checklist

Run through these checks before submitting an image, PDF or document to a job, visa, school, marketplace or government portal.

1. Confirm the accepted file format

Look for exact formats such as JPG, PNG, PDF or DOCX. A file that looks correct can still be rejected if the extension or actual format is unsupported. Use PNG to JPG, WebP to JPG, Word to PDF or another SizeFix converter when the destination requires a different format.

2. Check the maximum file size

Portals often use limits such as 100KB, 200KB, 500KB, 1MB, 2MB or 5MB. Use the exact limit, not a rough guess. For images, try the Image Compressor. For PDFs, use the PDF Compressor or one of the preset target pages.

3. Check dimensions, aspect ratio or page count

Image portals may require exact pixels such as 300 × 300, 512 × 512 or 600 × 600. PDF portals may limit the number of pages. Use SizeFix’s exact resizer pages, Split PDF or Extract PDF Pages when necessary.

4. Verify readability after compression

Do not judge success only by file size. Open the processed result and check faces, signatures, document numbers, small text and QR codes. If important details are blurred, go back to the original and use a less aggressive reduction.

5. Check orientation and cropping

Exact square dimensions can crop a portrait or landscape source. Make sure the important content remains inside the frame. For documents, verify every page is upright and nothing was clipped during scanning or conversion.

6. Use a simple filename

Prefer letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. Avoid unusual symbols that some older portals may reject. A clear filename such as passport-photo.jpg or bank-statement-july.pdf is easier to recognise before submission.

7. Keep the original file

Always preserve the untouched source. Different portals may ask for different limits later, and repeated conversion or compression from an already processed file can reduce quality.

8. Test the final file before submitting

Open it independently after download. For a PDF, confirm the page count and text visibility. For an image, confirm dimensions and size. For a QR code, scan it once before printing or uploading.
